    Lake Hoohaw Board forum rules.

The Lake Hoohaw Boards forum is a public forum. To keep the forum readable and a nice place to stay, we ask that you follow a few basic rules.
By using or participating on the Lake Hoohaw Boards forum, you agree to the Forum Rules as stated below.

    • No swearing in any part of the site.

Offensive language is unacceptable. A simple rule to follow is: "when in doubt, leave it out." You don't have to use excessive profanity to get your point across, and it's usually better to avoid it altogether. Profanity in posts will be edited out. Repeat offenders or those who use excessive profanity may lose the privilege to post on the forum.

    • No flaming,  bashing and trolling, especially regarding PB&J Otter.

Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated on the forums, either on the public boards or in personal messages. Same goes for the Chatbox. This will lead to a warning or ban.

    • No harassing, impersonating other users.

Respect other member's opinions and treat others like you want to be treated. You may not impersonate another board member or create an account specifically for the purpose of provoking other users.

    • No accessing another user's account.

Accessing or using someone else's account or attempting to access another poster's account is strictly prohibited.

    • No owning multiple accounts.

Creating / owning multiple accounts is prohibited. Owning multiple accounts will at least lead to an immediate ban of all but your first account.

    • No double-posting in forums other than the Spin-off forum, Dad's General Store forum, or Contests forum.

You can modify and add more content to your last post.

    • No spam or advertising.

Purposely spamming a message board with senseless, vacuous, or empty messages to gain more posts is highly frowned upon! This includes such things as party posts, chain letters, two-word "I agree" or "me too" responses, continually posting the same topic on a particular board, posting the same question across several boards and using the Quote feature without contributing anything new to a thread. Posts from spam bots containing advertisements of subjects or sites not related to PB&J Otter will be removed and their accounts will be banned.

    • No overquoting.

Quiting the entire last post in any topic is not allowed unless you're referring to some part of that post, so you leave in quote only that part.

    • Try to refrain from going too much off-topic in threads.

Off-topic is allowed but don't go too far with it. Instead, you can continue it either in the Oaky Oak Tree board or in Chatbox or in PMs. Excessive off-topic posts will most likely be deleted, and further action may be taken against repeat offenders.

    • No asking questions that have no relation to the topic.

You can ask such questions in PMs or Chatbox or Xat or in special Q&A topic.

    • Try to post on forums using proper grammar if possible.

Care about other people's ease of understanding of what you type.

    • No huge images in signatures.

As well as no more than 2-3 pictures in a signature. All others must be in a spoiler tag.

    • No stealing someone's writings, artworks, recordings.

You're not allowed to just grab someone's content on here and use it outside the forum without a given permission from the author. Offenders will be warned or even banned from the forum.

    • In light of other peoples' beliefs, all religious talk is limited to private messaging only.

This prevents other people from getting offended by accident.

Staff of the Lake Hoohaw Boards forum and their duties.

    Administrators (aka Mayors)
Administrators usually look after the technical aspect of the forum. Furthermore, they can decide who becomes moderator and they solve argument between members and moderators. Finally, they can ban people from the forum.

    Moderators (aka Watchbirds)
On this forum we have moderators. However, the moderators cannot be everywhere and see everything. If you see something that is against the forum rules, please report it to the moderators by clicking the "Report" button (located beneath each post). Note that the moderators have the final say-so in any situation. They will evaluate the situation on a case-by-case basis and take appropriate action where needed.

    What Is A Moderator?
Moderators are volunteers who generously give their time to help board users with questions about our sites and boards. They also are the peacekeepers and are here to ensure that all visitors enjoy their stay. This means enforcing the forum rules.

    What Do Moderators Do?
Moderators monitor forum posts and respond to complaints to keep the forum free of undesirable content. They enforce the board rules, and can delete posts, edit posts, lock topics and more. If a moderator lets you know you are close to crossing the line, take heed of the warning. This could mean you are close to a temporary or permanent ban.

What If I Disagree With A Moderator?
Moderators are not perfect and are only human. Disagreements occur. Try to communicate with them first on a respectful level and settle your disagreement. If you do not agree with a decision, you are not entitled to start a thread arguing about the verdict or flaming any of the moderators. Any such messages will be removed. This extends to Private Messages and email as well, and you are not entitled to insult moderators via any of these methods.
If you feel a verdict is unfair, please contact a forum administrator. Inform them about the whole situation.
