Sometime after the events of "The Funky Band", Ootsie and Bootsie have an interest in 1980s new wave music. They buy REAL instruments: keyboards/synthesizers and a grey/black Gibson Flying V guitar. Bootsie customizes that guitar with golden strings and pickups and a tremolo bar and takes ownership of it. The other kids hear this excellent music coming from the mansion. Ootsie and Bootsie tell the kids that they're forming a band called Vespid. They reluctantly agree to let the others join the band if they want to, and Mr. Snootie offers to work with them as the band's manager and producer. Auditions for instruments take place, then they begin writing songs. Different members of the band disagree on what others come up with, but eventually they give in. The lineup for the band is as follows:

Peanut: vocals, acoustic and electronic drums, percussion
Jelly: vocals, acoustic guitars, tenor saxophone
    Pinch: vocals, bass
    Munchy: vocals, rhythm electric guitars
    Flick: vocals, piano, organ, trumpet
    Ootsie: vocals, keyboards, synthesizers
Bootsie: vocals, lead electric guitars, keyboards, synthesizers

As the band writes songs and records a full-length vinyl LP, Mayor Jeff schedules a concert for the band for all the residents of Lake Hoohaw. Will the band have an effective performance?
